What socks do we manufacture?

We are a custom socks manufacturer that knits socks to your design rather than embroidering or printing on stock blanks. Every program starts with your artwork or a reference pair, and the sock is built to that spec on computerised sock-knitting machines: yarn, needle count, cuff, cushion, pattern and toe closure are all decided by you. The styles that run every month:

• Crew and quarter socks — the everyday and streetwear staple, with rib cuffs and knitted-in logos
• Ankle and no-show socks — with silicone heel grips and reinforced heel and toe
• Athletic and cushioned socks — terry loops underfoot, arch support band and ventilation channels
• Dress and business socks — fine-gauge combed cotton or mercerised cotton in 168N–200N

Which yarns and knitting specifications do we use?

The yarn decides how a sock feels and how long it lasts. Combed cotton blended with polyester and a spandex-covered core yarn is the workhorse for everyday and athletic socks: cotton for hand-feel, polyester for durability and colour fastness, spandex for stretch and recovery. Nylon/spandex gives a smoother, thinner sock for dress and no-show styles. Merino wool, bamboo viscose and recycled polyester are available on request through our fabric sourcing team when a program needs a softer, warmer or lower-impact story.

Needle count is the sock equivalent of GSM. 96N and 120N machines knit heavier, more cushioned socks with visible loops; 144N and 168N are the standard for crew, ankle and logo socks; 200N machines produce fine dress socks with sharp, high-resolution jacquard. Terry cushioning can be full-foot, half-foot or heel-and-toe only, and the rib cuff height, arch band tension and ventilation mesh are all set in the knitting program rather than added later.

How does production work from artwork to bulk order?

Send your artwork as a vector file, or a reference pair with notes on colours and sizing. We convert the design into a knitting program, match yarn colours to your Pantone references and knit a first sample in 7–12 days. Because jacquard logos are knitted, not printed, the sample is where fine lines and small lettering are checked against the needle count — a logo that is too detailed for the gauge will be simplified at this stage rather than discovered in bulk. Revisions go through the same sample development loop and the approved pair becomes the reference for production.

Bulk production takes 25–35 days after sample approval, including knitting, toe linking, boarding (heat-setting each sock on a foot form so pairs match in size and shape), pairing and packing. MOQ is 300 pairs per design, and sizes can be mixed inside that quantity. Yarn dyeing to a custom colour adds a few days, which we state in the quote, and packaging — wrap bands, labels, boxes and multipacks — is produced in parallel so the order ships complete.

What quality control applies to custom socks?

Socks fail in ways that are invisible on a knitting machine and obvious after a week of wear: a cuff that loses recovery, a toe seam that rubs, or a pair that differs in length. Before bulk we test the production yarn for colour fastness and shrinkage, and we knit a size set to check length, foot width and cuff tension against the approved sample. In line, every machine is checked for dropped stitches and needle lines, toe seams are inspected after linking, and boarding brings every pair to the same measurement before pairing. Final inspection follows the same AQL standard as the rest of the factory, and every batch carries an AZO-free dye report on request.

For US-bound orders we print labels exactly as you supply them — fiber content, country of origin and manufacturer identity are your legal responsibility under 16 CFR Part 303, and socks with a spandex core must disclose that content. Socks rarely ship alone. Brands order them with underwear for basics ranges, with activewear for training lines, and with caps and beanies as merch accessories.
