Low MOQ Clothing Manufacturer
Custom clothing from 50 pieces per style/colour with sizes mixed, cut and sewn in Humen Town, Dongguan. Samples in 8–15 days, bulk in 24–30 days after approval.

Hualingniao is a low MOQ clothing manufacturer for brands that are too small for a mass-market factory and too serious for print-on-demand. Custom cut-and-sew orders start at 50 pieces per style/colour, and the sizes inside those 50 can be mixed. A first run of one style in one colour is a real production order: the same pattern room, sewing lines and final inspection as a repeat of several thousand pieces.
What low MOQ means here
A minimum order quantity is the smallest run a factory accepts for one design. Ours is counted per style and per colour: two colours of the same hoodie are two runs of 50, not one run of 50 split two ways. Sizes are the exception, and XS to XXL can be split freely inside each colour.

Three groups start higher because of machine and material setup: knitwear at 100 pieces per style/colour, and activewear, underwear, socks and swimwear at 500 (men’s swim trunks stay at 50). If a quotation ever needs a higher minimum than these, the reason is written on it.
Minimums by category
The 50-piece minimum covers most cut-and-sew categories. A few start higher because of how they are made. Every figure below is per style and per colour, with sizes mixed.

50 pieces per style/colour
T-shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts, polos, shirts, trousers and joggers, shorts, dresses, skirts, tank tops, jackets and hats start at 50 pieces per style/colour. Tracksuits and sets start at 50 sets, and men’s swim trunks at 50 pieces.
Knitwear: 100 pieces per style/colour
Sweaters and cardigans are knitted on programmed flat-knitting machines, and every design needs its own programme and yarn setup. That is why knitwear starts at 100 pieces per style/colour. Sizes can still be mixed.
Activewear, underwear, socks and swimwear: 500
Leggings, sports bras, seamless sets, underwear, socks, bikinis and one-pieces start at 500 pieces (socks: 500 pairs) per style/colour, because machine setup is only recovered over a larger run. If you need these below 500, we say so when quoting rather than accept an order we cannot run well.
What can raise the real minimum
The garment minimum is the floor, not always the number on your quote. Some materials and choices set a higher effective quantity, and we flag each one before you commit.

Fabric minimums
Fabric from a mill’s running stock can be bought for a 50-piece order. Custom-dyed colours and custom-knitted fabric carry the mill’s own minimum, often far more than 50 garments need. When that happens the quote says so, and we suggest a stock alternative where one exists.
Design complexity
Our 50-piece minimum assumes a production-ready design. Styles that combine several demanding processes, such as all-over washes or large-area prints, premium or hard-to-handle fabrics, intricate construction and multiple decoration steps, need more sampling rounds, a longer line setup and our most experienced operators. For these we usually quote 200–500 pieces per style/colour and a longer timeline, and we tell you which details drive it, so you can decide whether to simplify the first run or keep the full design.
Number of colours
Each colour is its own run. Five colours of one T-shirt is 250 pieces, not 50. Launching in one or two colours and adding more on the repeat keeps the first order small.
Labels, trims and decoration
Custom woven labels, colour-matched zips and some packaging come from suppliers with their own minimums. Printing and embroidery are handled by vetted partner workshops. We confirm these for your design when quoting and suggest stock options when a minimum would outweigh your order.
How a 50-piece order runs
A small order goes through the same steps as a large one. What changes is the cost of a mistake: on 50 pieces one wrong measurement is the whole order, so the steps before cutting matter more, not less.

Quote from a tech pack or a reference garment
Send a tech pack, or a reference garment with notes, plus the quantity per colour and your destination. We return a technical review and a quotation tiered at 50, 100, 300 and 500 pieces, so you can see each price break.
Sample and measurement approval
A first sample takes 8–15 days for most categories once inputs are confirmed. Before bulk we agree how each point of measure is taken, not only the numbers on the size chart, because two people can measure the same chart differently.
Bulk and inspection
Bulk runs 24–30 days after the pre-production sample is approved. In-line checks run during sewing, and a final inspection measures against the approved sample before packing.
Ways to start smaller
If 50 pieces per style/colour is still more than you want to commit, these routes keep the first order small without changing the rule.

Fewer styles and colours first
One or two styles in one colour each, with sizes mixed, is the smallest custom launch. Add colours on the repeat once you know which ones sell.
Test demand with blanks
Our blank program sells plain, undecorated styles from current production runs from 50 pieces, with colours and sizes mixed. Samples start at US$20 and take about 3 days; bulk takes 12–18 days. Logos, labels and custom packaging go through custom production.
Repeat without paying for development twice
Every approved style closes with a sealed sample and a versioned specification. Repeat orders are quoted against that record, so the second run of 50 needs no new pattern work.
Frequently asked questions
What is your minimum order quantity?
50 pieces per style/colour for custom orders, with sizes mixed inside each colour. Knitwear starts at 100, and activewear, underwear, socks and swimwear at 500 per style/colour; men’s swim trunks start at 50.
Can I mix colours to reach 50 pieces?
Not on custom orders: each colour needs its own 50 pieces, while sizes can be mixed. Our blank program is the exception, where plain blanks can mix colours and sizes within 50 pieces.
Does a complex design change the minimum?
It can. A design that layers several demanding processes, such as large-area wash or print effects, premium fabrics and intricate construction, is usually quoted at 200–500 pieces per style/colour with a longer schedule, because it needs more sampling and a longer line setup. We point out which details drive the quantity, so you can simplify the first run if starting at 50 pieces matters more.
Is the unit price higher at 50 pieces?
Yes. Pattern, marker and cutting setup cost the same at 50 or 500 pieces, so they weigh more per garment on a small run. Quotes are tiered at 50, 100, 300 and 500 pieces so you can see where the price breaks.
How long does a 50-piece order take?
Samples take 8–15 days for most categories once inputs are confirmed. Bulk takes 24–30 days after the pre-production sample is approved, plus freight.
Do I need a tech pack?
It helps but is not required. A reference garment with written notes also works: we measure it, build the specification and confirm the details with you before sampling.
Why is the MOQ higher for knitwear and activewear?
Knitwear is made on programmed flat-knitting machines with a yarn setup for each design, and activewear, underwear, socks and swimwear need machine setup that is only recovered over a larger run. That is why they start at 100 and 500 pieces per style/colour.
Can I add my logo on a 50-piece order?
Yes, on custom orders. Printing and embroidery are done by vetted partner workshops, and we confirm the decoration minimum for your artwork when quoting. Blanks ship plain only.
Can the order grow after the first 50 pieces?
Yes. 50 pieces per style/colour is the starting point. Repeats are produced against the same approved sample and specification, whether the next order is 50 pieces or several thousand.
